To claim the Earned Income Tax Credit without a qualifying child, you must be at least 25 and under 65 at the end of 2026.
Dependents who don’t qualify for the Child Tax Credit — for example a child 17 or older, a permanently disabled adult child, or a parent or relative you support. Each may qualify for a $500 nonrefundable credit.
